What
is the National BETA Club?
A nonprofit, leadership-service organization for grades 5-12. The National
BETA Club in Brooklyn Technical High School currently limits their membership
to grades 10-12. For more information go to About.

What
are the requirements for becoming a member?
All applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors. This requirement
is subjected to change. Applicants must have at least an 85 average.
Please note that these are not the only requirements. BETA membership
is becoming more selective. For more information go to Admission.

Is
membership limited in number?
There are no quantitative limitations. Every student in grades 10-12
is potentially eligible, provided the general qualifications are met.

What
will I be doing?
Members will be required to participate in all activities. In previous
years, members were involved in various activities during weekends and
"manning" the boxes during their lunch periods for toy/ food/
clothing drives.

What
will be the benefits for joining BETA?
Members will learn leadership skills, gain skills and knowledge not
available in classroom settings, recognize the importance of serving
the community, and recognition of leading by serving others; not to
mention a cool tassel and pin for graduation. All members who fulfill
their responsibilities as members will be part of the end-of-the-year
induction ceremony.

What
are my obligations?
Participation is important and required from all members. Major responsibilities
that have to be fulfilled include fundraising, payment of dues and participation
in major projects and events. Failure to complete any of the following
can lead to probation or termination of membership in BETA.

What
are the activities I will be participating in?
Traditionally, BETA assigns soup kitchens and toy/ food/ clothing drives
annually, in addition to other planned events. These events are decided
upon by the BETA officers in the beginning of the school year. Members

How
much are membership dues?
Membership dues are decided upon at the beginning of the school year.
BETA organizations are required to pay dues to the main head quarters
in order to keep up the BETA effort nationally. In addition to dues,
members are required to raise money in order to pay of the induction
ceremony, donations, and events.

What
is the status of graduate members?
They retain all rights and privileges except voting. Graduates may wear
the club emblem, and attend local, regional and state meetings.

Is
is possible to lose membership?
Yes, a member will lose his or her membership if responsibilities are
not fulfilled. BETA officers and Mr. Kahn will decide upon the member's
fate.
